I bought 1lb sausages from my local butcher. I fried them with some chopped bacon slices until they were brown, and tipped this into the dish. In the frying pan I added a little garlic puree, tomato puree and mustard, and a dash of Worcester sauce. i also added a little honey (don't worry, it tastes alright!); a small tin of tomatoes. I made up some veg buillon & added this with about 200ml dry sherry. In the meantime I cut a large parsnip, and a large Bramley apple into chunks. I put everything into the dish, (you might like to add some haricot or butter beans at this stage). I baked in a low - moderate oven for 1hour 30minutes. Serve with some nice bread, or potato wedges.
