Lapwing's nest

Lapwing's nest
Lapwings seem to have returned to the farm. They nest in the fields - do not like too much cover and as you can see, use loose bits of straw to make their nests. They are also known as peewits, after the strange noise they make as they swoop about.

What pretty eggs, hope they will be safe. I've never heard of a lapwing - I'm a bit of a wildlife dummy I guess :-)
Have a good week,

Nice one, there used to be loads of 'lappys' near where I live when I was a kid but so much of the land has been built on and I hardly see them locally. They do nest on the (disused) airfield at work and dive bomb anyone in the vicinity.

Cheers

They are very pretty eggs. Must google the bird to see what the adults look like.

Nests in the ground and so open - makes me worry for the poor little eggs!
